"Halibut" Release |
|
Discussion: The CVS 1.10 release was been code-named Halibut. Thanks to everyone who helped us beta test Halibut. How does Halibut differ from CVS 1.9? A few of the differences are:
Why is it called "Halibut"? Here is how Noel, our release-meister, tells the story:
What's Old with Halibut 14 Aug 1998: CVS 1.10 is out. 10 Aug 1998: The CVS 1.9.30 beta release is out. 7 Aug 1998: Added packaged distribution for Windows (cvs-1.9.29-win.zip) to download site. 7 Aug 1998: Noel sends out an update listing various proposed changes which won't make it into Halibut as well as a few that will. 29 Jul 1998: The first beta test release, CVS 1.9.29 is out. Please download it and help us test it. 26 Jul 1998: Noel has checked in a fix for the top level directory problem. He expects to finish up the symlink problem and then make a test release. 20 Jul 1998: Noel says: "It will be a day or two before I can finish everything up for the test release". 14 Jul 1998: Noel announces feature freeze for 16 Jul 1998. 27 Jun 1998: Noel announces initial plans. Mentions top level directory and symlink problem as the two big issues remaining to be resolved. Solicits "flames, comments, feedback, (cookies?), (free beer?)". |
