Clip art for web sites

Clip art for web sites

In constructing a web site, one may want familiar icons such "new", "under construction", images for the content of the web site, or whatever.

Mailing lists and newsgroups

The newsgroups for web authoring are comp.infosystems.www.authoring.*. Those groups, especially comp.infosystems.www.authoring.site-design, would be suitable for discussing the use of clip art in your site.

For more information

The book How to Set Up and Maintain a Web Site contains a collection of web icons. They are on the CD-ROM which comes with the book, in the tools/graphics/icons directory. They are believed to be in the public domain, so you can use them in your own web site without legal trouble. The same collection is online here.

Barry's Clip Art Server contains a large collection of animals, plants, and any number of other subjects. Although much of it is in the public domain, some is shareware or for noncommercial use only, so check the copying terms for the particular section of the site if this is important to you.
