$40 CD-ROM includes CVS 1.10, Aegis, PRCS, and more

Cyclic Software announces a $40 CD-ROM, the first to focus on CVS, containing configuration management software for programmers and web authors. Cyclic Gallery for Linux includes CVS 1.10, Aegis, and PRCS version control systems and related tools; Cyclic Gallery for Windows includes CVS 1.10.

Cyclic Gallery for Linux is officially supported on Red Hat Linux, either version 4.2 or 5.x, and includes the following packages:

  • CVS - version control tool which supports branching, multiple developers, and remote collaboration.
  • tkCVS - one of the more popular free graphical user interfaces for CVS.
  • Cvsweb - browse a CVS repository via the web. Both the original cvsweb from Bill Fenner, and the enhanced cvsweb from Henner Zeller ("hencvs").
  • PRCS - simplified directory tree project oriented version control system.
  • Aegis - version control system with integrated features for bug tracking, running testsuites, and code reviews.
  • SCCS - simpler version control tool which operates on one file at a time. Cyclic Gallery includes the CSSC implementation of SCCS.
  • Xdelta - delta generator. In other words, it does somewhat the same thing as GNU diff and patch.
  • Autoconf - helps you build software on a variety of operating systems.

Cyclic Gallery for Windows consists of CVS.

The CD-ROM also includes a variety of less well-packaged programs, including more CVS-related software for Macintosh and Windows, bug-tracking programs and more. However, we do not offer installation support for the less well-packaged programs.

"By waiting until this product is shipping before accepting orders, we take a stand against vaporware," said Jim Kingdon of Cyclic Software, "I've held the boxes of production CD-ROM in my hands so I know they exist."

The CD-ROM comes with 30 days of installation support, provided via telephone or email.

Cyclic Software sells support for CVS, a cross-platform, easy to administer client/server configuration management system. For more information on Cyclic and CVS, see our web page at http://www.cyclic.com.
